APRIL MEETING PROGRAM
High Speed Multimedia (HSMM) by Glenn Currie, KD5MFW
When I was very young, my family lived in Kerrville. My dad taught 8th grade.
We moved away when I was about 4. My family are Methodist, and I remember
going to Mt. Wesley often. From Kerrville, we moved to Carmine where my dad
was the High School principal in the Round Top, Carmine School District. I went
to first grade in Round Top, Texas. From there we moved to Hebbronville in south
Texas, where Jimmy Treybig (W6JKV) was born (oil town). From there, we Anglos moved to Victoria where I finished high school and my father retired from the school business.
I hope we can stir up some interest in HSMM in your area. It is a long term project, but
we are pushing to get our mesh technology spread around.
We are planning to send up one of mesh nodes, with a web-cam on the
ARBONET high altitude balloon project. K8OCL John Champa, is active with a
group in the north Dallas (Fair, TX) that sends up balloons with ham gear to ~ 100,000
feet. If we can keep our gear working on the flight, we can see about trying to get our gear on a satellite. ;-)
