The Hill Country Amateur Radio Club (HCARC) has an examination session scheduled each quarter during the year.  For 2020 those dates are February 1, May 2, August 1, and November 7.  The test will begin at 1:00 PM at the Kerrville Red Cross building in classroom “b”.  The address is 333 Earl Garrett Street, which is just across the street from the courthouse.

Walk in candidates are accepted and welcomed, however be aware if no one has registered for the session by the prior Saturday, the session will be canceled.  This simply done to avoid having our Volunteer Examiners give up their Saturday if no one is going to show up.  Simply register by calling or emailing the administrator listed below.

With that being said, our club will test you when you’re ready.  We meet every Wednesday at the McDonalds by Wal-Mart on Junction Highway at 8:00 AM and will let you take the exam there.  We meet in the kid’s play area which is relatively quiet during the school year.  You do have to contact the administrator for the exam prior however, so we can make sure the materials are available and three Volunteer Examiners will be there.  At the present time contact Fred Gilmore at (830) 367-7430 or by email at  You don’t have to be a ham to join us for coffee.  Just come on in and join us if you’re interested in the hobby.

Our club does also conduct classes to help you get your license or ugrade.  Check the Bulletin Board tab on the main menu to see if a class is currently scheduled.
