GENERAL TEST INFORMATION
The HILL COUNTRY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB Volunteer Examiners will test on the first Thursday of the month, after the HCARC meeting adjourns. Testing will be done at the American Red Cross Chapter building, 333 Earl Garrett Street, Kerrville. Walk-ins will be accepted, however pre-registration is preferred so that materials can be made ready. Notification can be via email to w0lpd@ktc.com <mailto:w0lpd@ktc.com> or by phone to Fred Gilmore, W0LPD at (830) 367-7430.
The VE team can test at other locations and times to accommodate handicapped individuals, or for other special reasons if necessary, provided at least two weeks notice is given prior to the requested test date. If testing in a location other than the Red Cross, you must secure the facility. We will require two weeks to post the examination to the public and assemble the team members. If testing at your home, there is a possibility other candidates might be present.
Test fee is $15 for each test session in 2009 payable by cash, check or money order at time of registration. Session retesting is permissible if time permits, but an additional fee will be charged. If paying by check or money order they should be made out to "ARRL/VEC"
The General Class Examination is using the updated question pool as of July 1, 2007. Exam candidates must present a legal photo ID or two of the following: Non-photo ID/Driver's license; birth certificate (with seal); minor's work permit or school report card; business correspondence naming the person; or postmarked envelope addressed to the person at their current mailing address. Licensed upgrade candidates must also show their original license and present a copy thereof.
The next VE test session will be June 4, at 4:40 PM for those wishing to take the exam.
